8.21 Transporting Students in Private Vehicles for Educational Field Trips or School Sponsored or School Related Events

POLICY:


The transportation of students in privately-owned motor vehicles for educational field trips or school-sponsored or school-related events shall be approved by the Superintendent or designee on a case-by-case basis pursuant to Section 234.02, Florida Statutes, except in an emergency situation. Drivers of such vehicles shall be required to show proof of insurance coverage at the minimum limits required by Florida Statutes and at other limits that may be required by the School Board's Risk Management Program. The Superintendent is directed to ensure that School Board liability is protected when transporting persons, other students and students to events or activities in which the School Board or school has agreed to participate or co-sponsor.
